Anguillan sprinter Zharnell Hughes of Kingston College turned back the challenge of Jevaughn Minzie to break the Boys’ Class 1 record at the 2014 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Championships at the National Stadium a short while ago.

Hughes stopped the clock at 10.12 seconds.

Minzie of Bog Walk High clocked 10.16 for second place, while Raheem Robinson of Wolmer’s Boys finished third in 10.37.

St Jago’s Yohan Blake set the previous record of 10.21 seconds in 2007.

It represents the second Blake’s record that was broken on the day.

Five minutes earlier, Blake lost his Class 2 100-metre record to Raheem Chambers of St Jago.

Chambers clocked 10.29 seconds to break the previous mark of 10.34 seconds set in 2006.
